Poll: Was the Deepwater Horizon spill preventable?

There are a lot of negative Nellies out there lamenting the destruction of the Gulf Coast ecosystem. But they should be asking themselves whether the spill was preventable in the first place.

Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK) says no:

“We probably should have forced BP to mobilize more in the way of vessels. There’s still a lot that can be done. But again, acts of God are acts of God. And you know, FEMA is not, you know, can not cope with everything.”

Sarah Palin says that it’s the inevitable outcome of misguided and extreme environmentalism:

“Extreme Greenies:see now why we push”drill, baby, drill”of known reserves&promising finds in safe onshore places like ANWR? Now do you get it?”

Others say that advancements in drilling technology have been made without similar advancements in remediation technology. What do you think?
