Militias, Malicious?

Hutaree patchThe Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America reads:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

This is the most fundamental example of the desire of the Founding Fathers for American citizens to form militias. Militias, historically, are an alternative to standing armies. The idea is that citizens should keep armaments so that they can act in the defense of their nation.

There has been a lot of recent press about the resurgence of militias. The latest is the arrest of nine members of the Hutaree (who-TAH-ree) militia on a number of charges, including ‘seditious conspiracy’ and ‘attempted use of weapons of mass destruction’. They are accused of a plot to foment revolution by first killing a law enforcement officer and then attacking the people that attend the funeral. This was allegedly intended to spark a popular revolution.

But does this plot make sense? Why would the murder of law enforcement officers inspire revolution? It’s just ridiculous. That’s why we have to ask ourselves: is this really an insidious plot by liberals to discredit good Christian Conservatives?

Hear me out. It’s a well known fact that the left plants people (called plants) in normal gatherings of Conservatives in order to make them look bad. For example, Tea Partiers were accused of screaming racial and homophobic insults at Representatives during the Obamacare vote, but those were almost certainly liberal plants. The people attending Obama events with assault rifles while holding signs about watering the tree of liberty with the blood of patriots? Liberal plants. The people holding misspelled and/or racist signs at Tea Party rallies? Liberal plants. So why would we expect any less from liberals when it comes to other right-wing organizations?

So ask yourself what makes more sense:

  • A Christian militia group was plotting to murder law enforcement officers in order to foment a violent revolution in the United States of America, causing a Civil War which would tear our nation apart and cause untold numbers of deaths, or
  • That liberals made up this ridiculous plot to make a normal heartland militia look crazy.

It’s Occam’s Razor, people.

One Response to “Militias, Malicious?”
  1. Montana says:

I love that they asked for “Public Defenders” (and they thought they could bring down our government), undercover FBI agent, sweet. The simpleton Tea baggers keep missing the point. These are the same whiners that were crying when the McCain/Bailin ticket lost. Now they are crying again because their yelling and screaming (because they are haters not debaters or as others have dubbed them screamers not dreamers) did not stop the health care debate or the bill from passing. They think they can scare, intimidate and force others to go along with them by comments like “This time we came unarmed”, let me tell you something they are not the only ones that are armed and not all ex-military join the fringe militia crazies who don’t pay taxes and run around with face paint in the parks playing commando, the majority are mature and understand that the world is more complicated and grey than the black and white that these simpleton make it out to be and that my friend is the point. Do not cry when regular people openly laugh at your group when they see on TV that your leaders are Sarah Bailin, Orly Taitz, Victoria Jackson, Michele Bachmann and your own turn coat Glenn Beck from the LDS. They do more to discredit you group on TV (powerful) than any of comments on the blog sphere. Yee Haw!
