Rahm Emanuel is Cognitively Disabled

Rahm EmanuelRahm Emanuel was quoted as calling plans by liberal democrats to air attack ads against Conservative democrats, and I quote: “F***ing retarded.” This reportedly happened last August in a strategy session.

Former future Vice President Palin responded on facebook, saying:

“Just as we’d be appalled if any public figure of Rahm’s stature ever used the “N-word” or other such inappropriate language, Rahm’s slur on all God’s children with cognitive and developmental disabilities — and the people who love them — is unacceptable, and it’s heartbreaking … Rahm is known for his caustic, crude references about those with whom he disagrees, but his recent tirade against participants in a strategy session was such a strong slap in many American faces that our president is doing himself a disservice by seeming to condone Rahm’s recent sick and offensive tactic.”

I mean, it’s clear that Emanuel was trying to denigrate people with disabilities. Emanuel should resign. Otherwise it’s exactly as though President Obama thinks that it’s okay to call people ‘retarded’. And if Emanuel doesn’t resign, and is not fired, then President Obama should resign (by the transitive property of guilt). Someone has to take responsibility for this unacceptable public use of an epithet in a private strategy session. Imagine if someone used an offensive word to describe the President. What would happen then?

And before you email me, I know that Emanuel apologized to Tim Shriver (CEO of the Special Olympics) last week. And that that apology was accepted. But that doesn’t matter. Why should Emanuel get off with a simple apology when so many Republicans and Conservatives have had to resign for similar offenses? No. Anyone who uses that word as an insult has to resign. No exceptions.
